Brown shell bear fetish pendant with a sun emblem. There is no artist's hallmark on this piece. The bear is created using a brown shell while the eyes and mouth are inlaid with turquoise stones. There is a mother-of-pearl arrowhead-shaped stone on the back of the bear. The Zuni-style sunface is present on the front of the bear. The sun symbol is inlaid with turquoise, coral, jet, and mother-of-pearl stones. The sun emblem represents the sustainability of life and the vital role the sun plays in it. It also resembles life's exuberances and prosperity. The pendant measures 1 1/8" long including the bail by 1 3/16" wide. The sunface symbol measures 9mm in diameter.
